Ved ei samanstilling av maleri, skulptur og eit videoarbeid, inviterer Sif Ankergård betraktaren inn i noko som kan opplevast som ei scene frå eit fantasilanskap. Eit landskap der impulsar frå romantikken sitt landskapsmaleri blir blanda med konseptuelle grep og ei leikande, men samstundes nitid tilnærming til både motiv og teknikk, slik vi kjenner dei frå både 1800-talet og nyare kunsthistorie. Inspirasjonen til arbeida ligg i landskapa som omgjer henne dagleg, dei ho møter på reiser, i fantasier, draumar og minne, men også i postkortas idylliske klisjear og den enkle skjønnheita vi kan finne i landskap frå gode skrekkfilmar.
Å male eit landskap er for Sif Ankergård ein erfarings- og læringsprosess. Ho malar det ho ser, samstundes med at ho tillet at fragment frå drøymde og tidlegare sette landskap blandar seg med biletet ho malar her og no. Som ung samtidskunstnar er ho bevisst landskapsmaleriet sin historisitet; altså den ideologiske pregninga bileta har frå tida og samfunnet dei oppsto i, og som nødvendigvis vil være ein annan i dag. Tilnærminga hennar er ein slags «learning by doing», ei utvikling av forståing gjennom erfaring av landskapet og oppøving av teknikkar for å gjengje det. Slik vil arbeida ho viser i utstillinga variere frå briljante skystudier til naivistiske, nærast barnlige framstillinger av ulike motiv.
Sif Ankergård har master i kunst frå Kunsthøgskolen i Bergen i 2015 og bachelor fra Gerrit Rietveld Akademi i Amsterdam i 2013. Ho har stilt ut omfattande både i Noreg og internasjonalt, blant anna ved Hordaland Kunstsenter og Kunsthall 3,14 i Bergen, ved Kunsthal Aarhus i Danmark, Galleria Grefti i Umbertide, Italia, AARK Archipelago Art Residency i Korppoo, Finland, Belitz Hailstade i Tyskland og Oude Kerk i Amsterdam. Sif Ankergård er født i Danmark, og bur og arbeider i Bergen.

Through a juxtaposition of painting, sculpture and a video work, Sif Ankergård invites the beholder into something that may be experienced as a scene from a fantasy landscape where impulses from the sceneries of Romanticism blends with a conceptual approach that is playful and thorough at the same time. The inspiration for the works draws from the landscapes of her surroundings and those she encounters on travels, from imagination, dreams, and memories. But also from the idyllic cliches of the postcards, and the simplicity of beauty we sometimes find in good horror movies.
For Sif Ankergård the act of landscape painting is a process of experience and learning. She paints what she sees, but she also allows fragments from dreamed and formerly seen landscape seep into the image she is painting here and now. As a young contemporary artist, she is aware of the historicity of landscape painting; i.e., the ideological imprint from the society and time of their execution that must be different today. She practices «learning by doing,» and the understanding develops as she experiences the landscape and exercises techniques for representing it.
Sif Ankergård holds a Master of Fine Art from the Bergen Academy, 2015, and a Bachelor from the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, 2013. She has exhibited extensively in Norway and internationally, for instance at Hordaland Kunstsenter and Kunsthall 3,14 in Bergen, Norway, at Kunsthal Aarhus in Århus, Denmark, at AARK Archipelago Art Residency in Korppoo, Finland, Galleria Grefti in Umbertide, Italy, EEA Residency Belitz Hailstade, Germany, and at Oude Kerk in Amsterdam. She is born in Denmark and lives and works in Bergen, Norway.
